
BRASS COURSE INFORMATION
Since it’s formation in 1988 Stockholm Chamber Brass has been recognised as one of the leading chamber music ensembles in the world. The quintet have toured around the world many times, performing at many of the leading music festivals and have released 6 critically acclaimed CDs including the classics of the quintet genre, a CD of commissions and their most recent album THEN, a collection of songs and dances from the renaissance era in arrangements by SCBrass members and friends. The American Record Guide wrote of the album Clockworks, “I cannot imagine that a better brass quintet has ever existed.”
As passionate about teaching as they are performing they regularly give masterclasses at the leading music academies and have been the Brass Quintet in Residence at the prestigious Sibelius Academy Helsinki, Finland.
Throughout the Stockholm Chamber Brass Academy week every student will receive the following:
• A minimum of 90 minutes of individual lessons
• 10 hours of chamber music coaching
• A public lunchtime concert with their chamber music group
• Daily sessions with a composer to workshop a brand new piece for your ensemble - To see the compositions and their premieres from previous years please visit the archive section of this website
• Workshop sessions discussing various aspects of chamber music and running a brass ensemble with members of SCB
To apply for the Stockholm Chamber Brass Academy each group or individual will need to:
• Complete the Academy application form - found here
They will then be requested to:
• Submit a short curriculum vitae or biography
• Submit either a short audio or video recording to demonstrate their playing level
PLEASE NOTE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 12th MARCH 2023
A sample schedule can be found below although this will be finalised once the ensembles for the academy have been chosen so that the week can be maximised for each participating group.
